Our missions
Organising and coordinating nearly 400 on-call doctors
The main mission of the non-profit organisation GBBW is to organise, coordinate and promote general medical care in the Brussels Region. We are a team of professionals whose role is to coordinate and manage the administrative aspects of the on-call service in Brussels. Our association has been in existence for over 20 years and was centralised in 2014.
The Garde bruxelloise has nearly 400 general practitioners who take turns each year at our fixed medical posts or provide home visits. They deal with minor medical emergencies or provide rapid medical advice when your regular doctor is unavailable. They are not a substitute for a GP. After a visit, they provide a detailed report of the intervention for your GP to follow up on. If your problem is beyond their expertise, they will refer you to the nearest hospital, often located close to our various medical posts.
The Garde bruxelloise receives patients at seven medical posts located in different Brussels municipalities and which are easily accessible. Our organisation also coordinates home visits after dispatching via our landline number 02 201 22 22 or the federal number 1733. Our rates are regulated, and each consultation is reimbursed by your health insurance fund.
